Onjeh Sounds Alarm Over LG Autonomy Rejection In Anambra, Calls On Tinubu To Intervene with SoludoDaniel Onjeh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s 2023 Senatorial Candidate for Benue South, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take firm action in response to what he describes as Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s open disregard for the Supreme Court’s ruling on local government autonomy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Onjeh’s remarks follow Soludo’s recent enactment of the Anambra Local Government Administration Law 2024, which Onjeh argues is an attempt to undermine the Supreme Court’s July 2024 decision that granted financial independence to Nigeria’s local government areas (LGAs).
It is worth noting that Soludo previously expressed concerns that granting full autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 LGAs could result in “significant chaos” after signing the Anambra State Local Government Administration Law.
