Onjeh’s remarks follow Soludo’s recent enactment of the Anambra Local Government Administration Law 2024, which Onjeh argues is an attempt to undermine the Supreme Court’s July 2024 decision that granted financial independence to Nigeria’s local government areas (LGAs).

It is worth noting that Soludo previously expressed concerns that granting full autonomy to Nigeria’s 774 LGAs could result in “significant chaos” after signing the Anambra State Local Government Administration Law.
