Ortom Addresses Factionalism Rumors In PDP, Endorses Damagum’s LeadershipThe immediate past Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has dismissed claims of factionalism within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), affirming that the party remains united under the leadership of the current National Working Committee (NWC) chairman, Umar Damagum.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ortom made this statement during a meeting with members of the newly elected Benue State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP at his home in Makurdi. He stressed that the Damagum-led NWC is the officially recognized leadership and that any allegations of division are baseless.
While acknowledging the challenges the party faces amid the current crisis, he praised the efforts of the Damagum-led committee in navigating difficult times. Ortom encouraged party members to refrain from criticism and instead offer their support through prayers.
He stated, “There is no faction in the Peoples Democratic Party, and we remain committed to equity, fairness, and justice. I have not drifted from that, and we are loyal to the party. We do not want to be a dissident group, and we do not belong to one. Therefore, we support the Damagum-led NWC; they have done their best, though no one is perfect.
“They should be commended for their efforts despite the challenges in the PDP. If there are issues, various organs of the party’s leadership, such as the Board of Trustees, Governors’ Forum, National Executive Committee, and the NWC, are available to address them.
“They have performed well, and we should not castigate them. We will stand by them and continue to work under their guidance and support them with our prayers until circumstances change.
