Osita Okechukwu Sends Urgent Warning To Tinubu Over 2027 Electoral Crisis
A founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osita Okechukwu, has warned that President Bola Tinubu’s Southeast support could be jeopardized unless he takes immediate action to address the issues caused by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a statement released on Sunday, Okechukwu expressed disappointment that the only major road project benefiting the Southeast under the national Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS) is now being undermined by Umahi. He claimed that the construction of the 110-kilometer Enugu-Onitsha Express Road, which had been progressing smoothly under the MTN Road Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme (RITCS), was abruptly halted after Umahi issued a stop-work order.
According to Okechukwu, the interruption of the roadwork has caused significant hardship for motorists and resulted in numerous tragic accidents, including a deadly oil tanker crash last week that claimed multiple lives, including an entire family returning from South Africa.
The APC chieftain urged President Tinubu to investigate the situation to determine if the delay in road construction is affecting voter mobilization for the upcoming 2027 presidential election in the Southeast.
Okechukwu also suggested that some political opponents are accusing Umahi of sabotaging the project to undermine Tinubu’s campaign, although he dismissed these claims as false. He emphasized that the stop-work order, along with changes to the project scope—such as the removal of the 9th Mile Flyover and solar lighting for security reasons—has created unnecessary obstacles.
He called on President Tinubu to intervene and stop what he referred to as an unjust attack on the integrity and development of the Southeast region.
