Osun IPAC declared the governor’s selection a violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, asserting their inability to oversee a credible election in the state.

In a joint statement by Osun IPAC Chairman, Wale Adebayo, and Secretary, Tosin Odeyemi, it was disclosed that the nominated OSIEC chairman is a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and currently serves as a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adeleke on legal matters.

The statement emphasized that Barrister Abioye’s alleged lack of proven honesty disqualifies him from leading the commission, urging the House of Assembly to reject his nomination.

Osun IPAC condemned the imposition of a PDP member, calling it distasteful and asserting that it violates the constitutional provisions the governor swore to uphold.

Governor Adeleke submitted Hashim Abioye’s name for OSIEC Chairman to the Osun State House of Assembly for confirmation.
