Osun State Legislator Calls For Tougher Penalties On Corruption Offenders....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oriade State Constituency’s representative in the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Kanmi Ajibola, has urged the leadership of the National Assembly to consider implementing the death penalty as a punishment for corruption. In a detailed letter spanning five pages, directed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, Ajibola emphasized the urgent need for stringent measures to combat the rampant corruption plaguing Nigeria.

Highlighting the staggering loss of resources due to corruption, Ajibola, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilesa Branch, lamented the detrimental impact on Nigeria’s development, particularly evident in its infrastructure deficit. Referring to constitutional provisions empowering the National Assembly to enact laws addressing corruption, Ajibola stressed the necessity for legislation aimed at curbing corrupt practices among citizens.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the current anti-corruption laws, Ajibola advocated for the introduction of capital punishment, citing its deterrent effect. He underscored the severe consequences of unchecked corruption, warning that continued tolerance of such practices could lead to Nigeria’s demise. Urging swift action from the National Assembly, Ajibola implored legislators to enact laws incorporating capital punishment within thirty days to save Nigeria from the grip of corruption.

In his plea, Ajibola invoked the responsibility of Nigeria’s leadership to safeguard the nation’s future and prevent further harm caused by pervasive corruption. He called upon the National Assembly to embrace its role as guardians of the country’s well-being, likening their potential actions to those of revered historical figures who led their people to safety. Ajibola emphasized that introducing the death penalty for corruption is an imperative step towards ensuring Nigeria’s survival and fostering a climate of accountability and integrity.
