Armed jihadists reportedly attacked the Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area on Tuesday night, where they opened fire on residents and set houses ablaze. Reports indicate that the death toll from the attack rose to about 200 by Thursday night.
In a condolence message issued in Abuja, the senator lamented the continuous loss of lives across the country, saying the scale of violence had become unbearable. She called on authorities at all levels of government to take firm and decisive steps to halt the activities of bandits and other criminal groups.
Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and residents of the affected communities, warning that ongoing attacks pose a serious danger to national peace and stability.
She described the repeated killing of innocent Nigerians as deeply troubling, stressing that the protection of lives and the pursuit of justice must remain a top priority for government.
The senator also emphasised the importance of a coordinated and effective security response to tackle insecurity nationwide. She urged security agencies to carry out a prompt and transparent investigation into the Kwara attacks to ensure those responsible are held accountable and public confidence is restored.
According to her, allowing such crimes to go unpunished only emboldens perpetrators and prolongs the suffering of citizens. She added that the tragedy highlights the urgent need for a more responsive, people-focused security framework that guarantees communities can live without fear.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to supporting policies and initiatives aimed at strengthening security and protecting lives across Nigeria.
