Operation Hadarin Daji conducted by the Nigerian Air Force has resulted in the elimination of more than 100 bandits in a nighttime mission at Kuka Shidda Camp, Faskari LGA, Katsina State. The operation specifically targeted a criminal group linked to notorious terrorist leader Yusuf Yellow and his associate Rabe Imani. Additionally, airstrikes destroyed 45 motorcycles during the operation.
Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, spokesperson for Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, provided details in a statement, noting this as the third successful air raid in the Faskari-Kankara area recently, which significantly disrupted bandit activities.
Mohammed also disclosed that security forces thwarted a kidnapping attempt in the early hours of Sunday morning in Kwata Area, Jibia LGA, Katsina State. Acting on a distress call around 4:15 am, a police team led by a superintendent (SUPOL) and an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol intervened. They found armed bandits holding three women hostage. Swift action by the team blocked the escape route of the kidnappers, leading to a confrontation and subsequent gunfight. The criminals fled, leaving the three kidnap victims – Ummulkhari Abubakar (23), Shafa’atu Abubakar (35), and Maryam Lawal (15) – and a six-month-old baby boy named Ismail Usman unharmed.
The operation was notably conducted with restraint, using only 14 rounds of ammunition and 20 smoke canisters. The statement emphasized that such swift responses not only saved lives but also sent a strong message to criminals that such acts will not go unpunished.
It further underscored the unwavering commitment of security forces to safeguarding the citizens of Katsina State from criminal activities.
