Oyebanji Signs New Law Aimed At Tackling Land Grabbing Issues
Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State signed the Ekiti State Property Protection (Anti-Land Grabbing, Second Amendment Law, 2024) into law on Thursday. During the signing ceremony at the Governorās Office, Oyebanji emphasized that the anti-land grabbing law aims to regulate and improve land acquisition processes in the state. He stated that the law will prohibit forceful entry, illegal occupation, and any fraudulent or violent actions concerning land.
āI am particularly excited about the anti-land grabbing law, as it addresses issues that have hindered growth and development in our state. With this regulatory framework, we now have the legal authority to enforce it rigorously, regardless of who is involved,ā he remarked.
The governor expressed confidence that these laws would positively influence the stateās development. He thanked the state House of Assembly, led by Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye, for their support in enabling the government to implement these important decisions.
Aribasoye noted that the new laws mark a significant step toward advancing the dividends of democracy for the people. He highlighted the cooperative efforts between the assembly and the executive as crucial for the stateās development.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Mrs. Monisade Afuye, Deputy Speaker Bolaji Olagbaju, Secretary to the State Government Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, Head of Service Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi, and various members of the state assembly and executive council.
