The governor reaffirmed this stance during the inaugural Education Day Celebration, titled “A Day With His Excellency,” held at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, UCH, Ibadan.
Speaking through his deputy, Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Governor Makinde highlighted that the educational awareness event in 2023 demonstrated the state’s strong dedication to the education sector, not only at the local level but also on a national scale.
He underscored the significance of education in the current administration’s activities and the core principles of its Four-Point Agenda within Omitutun 1.0. Additionally, he pointed out that the present administration has allocated approximately 20% of its budget to education and has made it a top priority.
Governor Makinde stated, “We recognize that providing education to our children is essential to ensuring they do not fall victim to poverty.
History has shown that individuals who did not receive an education have not fared well in Nigeria. As such, our administration, under both Omitutun 1.0 and Omituntun 2.0, has placed significant emphasis on education, making it the cornerstone of our government’s policies.
