Kumuyi urged those considering emigration to rethink their decision, cautioning that such choices often lead to future regret. The term ‘JAPA,’ a popular slang among Nigerians, refers to the act of fleeing or escaping quickly from a situation.

In his sermon, Kumuyi emphasized that true prosperity can be found by those who choose to stay in their homeland, assuring listeners that the blessings of God are not confined to any specific location. “Whatever nation you are born in, the goodness of the Lord will reach you there,” he stated.

Reflecting on the experiences of many professionals—such as doctors, engineers, and lawyers—who sought opportunities abroad, he noted that many discovered that life outside Nigeria was not as promising as they had envisioned. He remarked, “Doctors go there, engineers go there, lawyers go there, thinking they are escaping bad situations. They believe they are heading to lands of opportunities and prosperity. However, once they arrive, they find it challenging to pay rent, feed themselves, and educate their children, realizing it was better when they were in their country, and they start looking for ways to return.”

Kumuyi encouraged citizens not to underestimate the potential within Nigeria, stating, “Goodness will come to you here. You don’t have to run away; your prosperity and progress will come right here in Nigeria.”

His message aligns with a broader call for faith and resilience, urging Nigerians to trust in God’s plan for their future despite the challenges they face.
