Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Abdullahi explained, “Ologunagba was suspended for alleged anti-party activities after issuing a press statement about the Rivers Local Government elections.” Ologunagba’s statement, released just before the Rivers council polls, encouraged residents to participate, asserting that no court could halt the electoral process. This statement reportedly contradicted the party’s official stance regarding the political turmoil in the state.
Earlier that day, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) had also announced the suspensions of both Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN). The announcement was made by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, who emphasized the PDP’s commitment to maintaining discipline within its ranks.
Nnorom further disclosed that a committee, led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, had been formed to investigate the allegations against the suspended officials in line with the party’s Constitution. Abdullahi added that a vote was held by the NWC, with eight members in favor of the suspension and four against it. He dismissed claims that the decision was politically motivated or externally influenced, affirming the NWC’s authority to discipline its members.
