The PDP stalwart emphasized his perspective, stating, “While I am a Yoruba individual and have known Asiwaju for many years, there seems to be a soft spot there. Nevertheless, I’ve attempted to withhold judgment until the first hundred days have passed, as there’s a tradition and culture of allowing the first hundred days for settling in.”

“However, this administration has executed several actions that can be perceived as significant missteps, and they’ve executed them in a brazen and hurried manner that has led people to say ‘no’.”

Examining the composition of Tinubu’s cabinet, Showunmi expressed his concerns about the inclusion of both capable individuals and excessively reused figures.

He pointed out the presence of former governors and questioned the concept of a paradigm shift if it includes such figures.

Showunmi voiced unease over what he sees as a disproportionate allocation of positions to the southwestern region compared to the southeast.

He expressed his concerns regarding Tinubu’s choices, emphasizing that favoring one region over another does not reflect the depth of talent and potential present among the Igbo people.

“Why is it that you’re allocating ten to one place, nine to another, seven to another, and only five to the southeast (Igbos)? The Igbo people, whether in Nigeria or the diaspora, possess a wealth of mental capacity, validation, education, and authenticity that is unmatched. Why is it that you’re now telling me you can only select five from their midst? These are the pressing issues,” Showunmi concluded.
