PDP Is Dead In Kano!” – NNPP Chairman Declares Political Dominance

The Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashim Dungurawa, has boldly declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reached its political dead end. He pointed to recent high-profile defections as proof that the party is collapsing nationwide.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Dungurawa claimed the PDP has lost all relevance following the defection of its 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, to other platforms such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“In Kano State, there is no PDP,” he said. “Even the APC, which controls the federal government, is barely visible here. The only vibrant political force in Kano is the NNPP, backed by the Kwankwasiyya movement. People are flocking into both.”

Responding to PDP’s claims of a comeback, Dungurawa scoffed at the idea:

“They say they’re bouncing back—but are they bouncing into the political arena or out of it? Clearly, they are bouncing out. Their leadership, their presence, their performance—none of it suggests readiness to return, not just in Kano, but across Nigeria.”

Recalling his time as a former Vice Chairman of the PDP in Kano North, Dungurawa criticized the party’s internal structure and leadership style.

“I was once a principal officer in the PDP. From experience, I saw that the party wasn’t built for victory. It thrived on victimization, witch-hunting, mischief, and sycophancy. No one was working for the party’s success, and that’s why I left. If these are the people expected to manage PDP, then the party is going nowhere.”
