Petrol Price Crisis Deepens: Another Sh*cking Increase Hits Motorists
Several major petrol stations across Nigeria have once again increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol. The latest hike follows an upward adjustment in ex-depot prices by Dangote Refinery and other private depot operators.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reports indicate that as of Saturday morning, Empire Energy and Ranoil stations in Abuja raised their pump prices to ₦935 and ₦970 per litre, respectively—up from ₦905 and ₦900 just the previous night.
Speaking to Daily Post, Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), confirmed that the rising pump prices are a direct result of increased ex-depot prices set by Dangote Refinery and other depot owners.
Ukadike explained:
“Depot suppliers and the Dangote Refinery have raised their ex-depot petrol prices.
As of Friday, Dangote’s rate rose to ₦858 per litre from ₦820. Other depots followed suit—NIPCO increased to ₦870, while Aiteo and Ranoil adjusted their prices to ₦855.”
He attributed the price surge to fluctuations in foreign exchange rates and rising global crude oil prices.
Despite the increases, some stations such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), MRS, Optima, and AP Ardova were still dispensing petrol at slightly lower rates—₦890 and ₦885 per litre in Abuja—as of the time of this report.
