 PDP Leaders Back Fubara In Ongoing Conflict With Wike

The PDP governors have called on the National Working Committee (NWC) to review the congress proceedings and reinstate Fubara’s position within the party’s leadership. These resolutions were made during a PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in Jalingo, Taraba State, on Friday.

The forum tackled both intra-party issues and broader governance challenges affecting their states and the nation. The released communiqué stated: “The Forum acknowledges the political crisis in Rivers State, where court rulings are used to influence party congress outcomes. The PDP Governors’ Forum reiterates its support for Governor Fubara and will work with the NWC to address these issues and restore his rightful leadership role within the state party structure.”

The governors also evaluated the preparations for the upcoming governorship election in Edo State and criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly attempting to skew the process in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The communiqué condemned the President’s remarks as well as the intimidation of PDP supporters by the Nigeria Police, calling on the Inspector General of Police to intervene.

The governors expressed concern over the federal government’s approach, accusing it of using blackmail instead of addressing macro-economic and social policies more effectively. They urged President Tinubu to adopt a statesmanlike approach and refrain from blame games that undermine state governments.

Additionally, the PDP governors criticized the federal government for its failure to differentiate between federal revenue and federation revenue, which should be distributed according to established laws. They called for adherence to Section 162 of the Constitution and urged the separation of the roles of the Accountant General of the Federation from those of the Accountant General of the Federal Government. They asked for greater transparency and adherence to the Constitution in managing these financial roles.
