The PDP leaders convened at the Ikoyi office of the party’s leader in Lagos State, Chief Olabode George, emphasizing that the current state of the judiciary in Nigeria is far from ideal.

Presenting the communique from the meeting, signed by 33 party leaders in the state, including Chief (Mrs) Onikepo Oshodi, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor Akerele, and Dr. Charles Akintoye, Chief George conveyed that the recent developments from the third arm of government in the most populous black nation are disheartening to millions of Nigerians.

He remarked, “When the judiciary is compromised in a democratic system, then democracy is at risk.”

Chief George highlighted the prevailing sentiment among Nigerians that the executive and legislative arms are detached from the populace, leaving the judiciary as the last bastion of justice in the realm.

He acknowledged that despite challenges, there are still hundreds of judges in Nigeria dedicated to upholding the sanctity of the judiciary, delivering not just judgments but justice.

Chief George affirmed that Nigerians continue to place their trust in these judges who remain committed to the principles of justice.
