Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, made this announcement during a press briefing in Umuahia on Monday, following the executive council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

Kanu emphasized that all relevant civil servants were provided with a two-week extended period by the State government to complete the verification process.

Those who were unable to undergo verification have the option to approach the heads of their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to understand the reasons for their non-verification.

Furthermore, the commissioner revealed that the 197 private schools recently closed in the State might be reopened if they meet the guidelines and standards set by the State government.

He pointed out that these schools were initially found to be in poor conditions with inadequate teaching staff.

In addition, Kanu disclosed that the State government is set to launch a Whistle Blower policy. Supporting this information, Betty Emeka-Obasi, the Senior Special Adviser on Special Duties to the Abia State Governor, informed that the names of unverified workers have been published, advising them to approach the heads of their MDAs for resolution.
