Both the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, and an anonymous source have confirmed this statement.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, recently announced that he had sought the approval of key PDP leaders before agreeing to serve in the government led by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In response to allegations that his decision to work for the APC government amounted to a betrayal of his loyalty to the PDP, Wike said, “They said they will sanction me because I accepted an appointment.

That’s ridiculous. The President wrote to all 36 state governors to nominate individuals for appointment. Didn’t PDP governors submit names?”

Wike further explained, “Before this appointment came, I wrote to the (PDP) National Chairman. I wrote to the minority leaders of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

I wrote to the zonal chairman of the party and my state chairman. I wrote to my governor, and all of them responded to me with ‘acceptance.’

I have documented evidence of this. Disregard those who engage in grandstanding. I refer to them as grandstanders because when you lose an opportunity, it’s due to arrogance and impunity.”

Meanwhile, members of the PDP NEC have confirmed that Wike, in a letter addressed to the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, informed the party about a ministerial appointment offer to serve in Tinubu’s cabinet.

Abdullahi revealed in an interview on Friday that Wike had sent a letter to the PDP’s acting chairman before accepting Tinubu’s offer. In the letter, Wike informed Damagum that he intended to “respond to President Tinubu’s invitation” and requested the party’s approval.
