Egwu commended the justices for their impartiality in upholding both the PDP’s constitution and the laws of Nigeria.
On Friday, the Supreme Court affirmed Anyanwu as the legitimate PDP National Secretary, effectively ending the prolonged legal dispute over the position.
In a statement following the ruling, Egwu described it as a positive development for Nigeria’s democracy, stating, “This judgment has restored hope to millions of PDP members nationwide.”
He further noted that the decision serves as a warning against political desperation, emphasizing, “This verdict is a clear message that reckless ambition and desperation will not prevail.”
Egwu urged Anyanwu to work with other PDP leaders in the Southeast to reconcile with members who had left due to the alleged high-handedness of former Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa.
He also pledged his support in resolving outstanding issues, particularly the pending state congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra.
Addressing past challenges under Odefa’s leadership, Egwu lamented that no candidate purchased governorship nomination forms for the 2025 Anambra election due to internal party crises.
“Our priority now as PDP leaders in the Southeast is to ensure successful state congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra,” he said.
“With this ruling, the path is now clear for valid congresses in both states, which will strengthen the party’s position ahead of future elections.”
