During these attacks, two prominent PDP members, Timi Biriyai Macdonald and Diepreye Akrisia, were brutally assaulted by individuals believed to be affiliated with the APC. Tragically, Macdonald succumbed to his injuries and was confirmed dead on Thursday night.
In an official statement released on Friday and jointly signed by State Chairman Hon. Solomon Aguanana, Secretary Hon. Gesiye Isowo, and Publicity Secretary Hon. Ebiye Ogoli, the PDP expressed its condolences to the affected families and the injured individuals.
The party strongly condemned the deployment of violence, harm, and even fatalities as a means of silencing or deterring supporters of rival political parties within the community.
The PDP also voiced concerns about the alleged plans of the APC to seize, manipulate, and fabricate fictitious electoral results in its favor from the same community during upcoming elections.
Consequently, the PDP called upon the police and other law enforcement agencies in the state to swiftly initiate an investigation, apprehend the culprits responsible for these cruel and irrational attacks on innocent citizens, and ensure their prosecution. This action, the party stressed, would act as a deterrent to others in the lead-up to the November 11 elections.
