Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hit back at prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure Dele Momodu for criticising Wike’s recent remarks regarding the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Olayinka accused Momodu of ignoring the facts in favor of maintaining financial ties with former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. He defended Wike’s stance, asserting that the minister was simply stating the undeniable truth about the party’s ticket zoning.
The dispute arose from Wike’s statement during a media briefing in Abuja, where he declared that the PDP would not give the presidential ticket to the North in the upcoming election cycle.
Momodu responded by mocking Wike’s bold declaration, questioning his confidence and predicting a future reversal. He posted on Facebook: “The PDP cannot send the presidential ticket to the North in 2027. I’m building the PDP, not tearing it apart – Wike.” He added that history would teach Wike humility, and criticized him for misinterpreting the Constitution, questioning his credibility as a self-proclaimed advocate for justice.
Momodu also took aim at Wike’s comments regarding the suspended Governor of Rivers State, accusing him of hypocrisy in his leadership style and relationships. He referenced Wike’s past insults toward those who helped him rise to power, calling him “Mr. Project” but claiming he was still sore over his loss in the 2023 PDP presidential primary.
In response, Olayinka, on his account, fired back at Momodu, accusing him of seeing anyone who disagrees with Atiku’s presidential ambitions as an enemy. He suggested that Momodu’s actions were driven by financial gain, claiming, “Babalawo Dele Momodu sha wants to be eating Atiku’s money.”
He further mocked Momodu’s loyalty to Atiku, implying that the millions he earned as Media Director during the 2023 campaign were enough to keep him firmly aligned with Atiku’s interests.
