People Are Suffering, Mr Speaker, This Is No Time For Celebration, Says Labour Party MP

Orogbu, a professor of Business Administration, highlighted that Nigerians have not experienced the benefits of good governance even after 25 years of democracy. She emphasized that this milestone has not translated into essential improvements such as food security, education, and healthcare.

She remarked, “We are celebrating 25 years of uninterrupted democracy, but this comes with mixed feelings as Nigerians are watching us closely. The people we represent are listening. How has this unbroken democracy resulted in food security, national security, or improved access to education and healthcare?

“Democracy is meant to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, and it should positively impact their lives. However, our people are still hungry. To be honest, Mr. Speaker, there is nothing to celebrate. We should be celebrating food security and access to healthcare instead
