Pete Edochie Reveals Shocking Reason His Uncle Married Three Wives

Published

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has recounted the unusual reason his late uncle decided to marry three wives, revealing that the man believed having multiple wives would prevent them from secretly conspiring against him.

According to reports, the iconic actor shared the story during an interview with comedian Isbae U on the online programme Curiosity Made Me Ask, where he reflected on his late uncle’s approach to marriage.

Pete explained that his uncle initially married one woman before later taking a second wife and eventually a third. Curious about the decision, the actor said he asked his uncle why he had chosen to marry three women.

According to Pete’s account, his uncle explained that the arrangement was designed to prevent the women from successfully plotting against him. He reportedly believed that if two of the wives discussed something secretly, the third would eventually reveal the conversation to him.

“He said there was no way they would all conspire against him at the same time. When two conspire against him, the other one would come and tell him what they are saying,” Pete recalled.

The veteran actor added that his uncle eventually considered himself comfortable with the arrangement, describing himself as having achieved a balance in his household.

Pete further disclosed that his uncle later passed away, but made it clear that he would not recommend polygamy to other men based on his uncle’s experience.

“I won’t advise a man to take more than one wife,” he said.

The revelation has since generated conversations online, with social media users reacting to the unusual strategy Pete Edochie said his late uncle adopted in managing his three-wife household.
