In a statement shared on his handle on Friday night, the former Anambra State governor refuted claims that he had attended an APC gathering. He made it clear that he is not affiliated with the ruling party and has no intentions of joining the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led APC.

Obi emphasized his commitment to politics rooted in integrity, fairness, and issue-based discourse, distancing himself from toxic politics, blackmail, and manipulation. He said: “I have seen reports on social media linking me to an APC event. Let me be absolutely clear: I do not engage in toxic politics, blackmail, or political manipulation. My name should not be associated with such narratives.”

He went on to reiterate, “I am not a member of the APC now, nor do I plan to be in the future. My political approach has always been centered on competence, capacity, and compassion — values essential for a better Anambra and a better Nigeria.”

Regarding Valentine Ozigbo, Obi stressed that all aspirants, including Ozigbo, should be judged based on leadership qualities rather than personal attacks or negative narratives. He called for primaries to be free, fair, and credible, ensuring that every legitimate party member has an equal chance to compete.
