Peter Obi Offers Condolences To Victims Of Abagana Accident

The accident claimed the lives of three individuals, including a child, and left several traders who were standing by the roadside severely injured, with goods also destroyed.

Ben Okongwu, President-General of the Abagana Community, confirmed to Vanguard that “no fewer than three persons died in the crash, including an under-aged child, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries.”

In a condolence message shared on Thursday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, called on the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to enforce road safety regulations more strictly to prevent such tragedies.

“I am deeply saddened by the news of the tragic accident at Abagana Market in Anambra State, where lives were lost and others were injured. I urge the Road Safety Commission to strengthen its efforts in enforcing road safety measures and ensure that road users adhere to traffic rules and regulations,” Obi wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

He also expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
