Wigwe, co-founder of Access Bank and founder of Wigwe University, lost his life in a helicopter crash alongside his wife, Chizoba, son, and lawyer, Abimbola Ogunbanjo. The unfortunate incident occurred as their chopper was en route to Las Vegas, crashing near the border between Nevada and California on Friday night. The US government confirmed no survivors as of Saturday morning.

Reflecting on their shared history, Obi recalled his initial meeting with Wigwe during the early stages of the latter’s marital journey. He vividly remembered aiding him in the preparations for his traditional wedding and being present at the ceremony.
