Popular Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has said that celebrities alone cannot resolve the country’s challenges, stressing that lasting change requires the active participation of all citizens.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The former P-Square member made the statement while reacting to ongoing criticism directed at entertainers and other public figures over their perceived silence on issues such as insecurity, poor governance, and economic hardship in Nigeria.

Speaking in an interview with a Lagos-based radio station, Mr P acknowledged the concerns of Nigerians and noted that the same national difficulties affect a large part of the population.

He also revisited his earlier comments about stepping back from speaking on national issues, saying his position has been misunderstood.

According to him, while some celebrities may have access to security and protection, many ordinary Nigerians do not enjoy such privileges, making the situation more complex.

The singer maintained that the responsibility of improving the country should not rest solely on celebrities, as Nigeria belongs to everyone.

He added that public frustration is often directed at entertainers whenever national issues arise, with expectations that they should lead protests or advocacy campaigns.

Mr P apologised for earlier remarks suggesting he would no longer engage in discussions about Nigeria’s challenges, noting that collective effort is needed to drive meaningful change.

He concluded that while the government has failed in many areas, real progress will only come when citizens work together rather than placing the burden on celebrities alone.
