Petrol Price Pain: NBS Reveals Benue, Borno, Adamawa As Most Affected States

A report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that Benue, Borno, and Adamawa recorded the highest petrol prices in November 2024.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The NBS report also highlighted that Lagos, Katsina, and Kano had the lowest average retail prices for petrol during the same period.

According to the November 2024 Petrol Price Watch, released in Abuja on Thursday, the average price of a litre of petrol rose from ₦648.93 in November 2023 to ₦1,214.17 in November 2024, marking an 87.10% increase.

“Compared to October 2024, the average retail price increased by 2.48% from ₦1,184.83,” the report added.

State Breakdown:

  • Benue recorded the highest average price at ₦1,365.16 per litre, followed by Borno at ₦1,331.94 and Adamawa at ₦1,319.85.
  • Conversely, Lagos paid the lowest average price at ₦1,092.79, followed by Katsina at ₦1,121.25 and Kano at ₦1,152.86.

Regional Analysis:
The South-East Zone recorded the highest average petrol price in November 2024 at ₦1,257.72, while the South-West Zone had the lowest at ₦1,153.94 per litre.

Diesel Prices

Similarly, the NBS report showed that the average retail price for diesel in November 2024 stood at ₦1,446.83 per litre, reflecting a 37.07% increase from ₦1,055.57 per litre in November 2023.

On a month-on-month basis, diesel prices rose by 0.38% from ₦1,441.28 in October 2024.

State Analysis for Diesel:

  • Bauchi State recorded the highest average price for diesel at ₦2,232.04 per litre, followed by Plateau at ₦1,770.59 and Borno at ₦1,751.15.
