Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing public institutions to reduce wastage and ensure the delivery of high-quality services to the citizens.
He emphasized the need to establish robust institutions to promote good governance and prevent the inefficient use of limited resources.

He made these remarks during the opening of a five-day retreat and training organized for 25 staff members of the state Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning (MBEP) in collaboration with Olive Consulting Group.
The retreat’s theme was “The Green Cap Vision and the Seven-Point Policy Thrust for Inclusive Budgetary Engagement: The Time is Now for Good Governance on the Plateau.”
The governor stressed the importance of streamlining activities to eliminate unnecessary overlaps and duplications within the budgeting process.
He cited examples such as multiple agencies maintaining the same roads and constructing similar facilities. He emphasized that governance should prioritize collaboration over competition and highlighted the significance of acquiring budgeting and planning skills.
Additionally, an economist, Dr. Uzochukwu Amakom from the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), discussed untapped opportunities and areas of collaboration during the retreat.
He emphasized that the solid foundation laid by this training, not only for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning but also for all other MDAs, will enable clear target setting and achievement strategies, especially considering the new administration’s tenure until 2027.
The coordinating officer of Olive-Edge Consulting Group, Mrs. Yilritmwa Goyol, noted that the retreat provided a unique platform for networking and cross-functional collaboration among peers from MDAs.
She emphasized that the diverse experiences and perspectives shared during the retreat would serve as valuable assets for interactive learning and cooperation.
