Governor Mutfwang clarified that the 20 trucks contain 25kg bags of rice, not 50kg bags as some had mistakenly believed. The newly formed committee includes representatives from all 17 local government areas (LGAs), as well as LGA chairmen, commissioners, and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI). Additionally, the committee comprises principals of boarding schools in each LGA, along with youth and women leaders.
Mutfwang acknowledged that the 20 trucks of rice are insufficient and pledged that the state government will procure additional supplies to ensure the aid reaches all vulnerable individuals in the state.
In related news, Senator Barau Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, has raised concerns about the distribution of palliatives in Kano. He claimed that many of the palliatives provided were not evenly distributed. Jibrin stated that his committee is working to ensure the equitable distribution of 23,644 bags of 25kg rice allocated to Kano by the federal government.
After a meeting at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, Jibrin emphasized that the committee, which includes members from various political parties and organizations, is dedicated to creating a fair distribution system. He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the needs of the vulnerable, stating that the committee’s goal is to ensure that all assistance is effectively and equitably distributed.
