Speaking on Friday during an interview on ARISE Television’s Prime Time, Yusuf described the impeachment process as a deliberate and well-orchestrated effort to force Fubara out of office.

He argued that Governor Fubara has been unable to fully exercise his mandate for more than three years, adding that the impeachment issue would not have arisen if relations between Wike and the governor were cordial.

Yusuf noted that impeachment in Nigeria often arises from political conflicts, describing it as an unfortunate but recurring feature of the country’s political landscape.

According to him, “What we are witnessing is a power struggle between political heavyweights in Rivers State—essentially between the Wike camp and the Fubara camp.

“In my view, the impeachment process is a calculated move aimed at removing Governor Fubara from office.

“If things were smooth between Wike and Fubara, we would not be hearing anything about impeachment.

“I sincerely hope this issue is resolved quickly so that Rivers State, and Nigeria as a whole, can benefit from stable and effective governance.”
