Police Arrest Suspect, Uncover Stolen Goods Worth Millions In Major Crime BustThe Bauchi State Police Command has dismantled a notorious crime syndicate, arrested a key suspect, and recovered stolen goods worth millions of naira.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 25, 2024, the police spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed that the arrested individual, Ukasha Adamu, was involved in a series of crimes, including criminal conspiracy, trespassing, key fabrication, store-breaking, and theft.

Adamu, along with his accomplices, targeted various stores in Bauchi metropolis, surveilling them, replicating keys, and stealing valuable goods. The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of Ajiya Adamu Road in Bauchi, was arrested on November 11, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. The arrest followed an extensive investigation by the State Intelligence Department (SID), which uncovered a well-organized criminal network.

“The investigation revealed that Ukasha Adamu and his gang had been systematically surveilling different stores in the metropolis, examining keyholes, and then replicating keys to gain access to these stores and steal valuable property,” SP Wakil stated. “This criminal activity not only jeopardizes public safety but also threatens the economic stability of local businesses.”

The police have recovered a substantial amount of stolen goods, including:

•150 bags of 25kg parboiled rice, valued at N6,000,000

•43 cartons of I.R.S. spaghetti, worth N774,000

•20 cartons of Emperor vegetable oil, valued at N1,440,000

•42 cartons of liquid fertilizer, valued at N5,040,000

The total value of the recovered items is estimated at N13,254,000.

“This significant recovery highlights the Bauchi State Police Command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of the state’s citizens,” the PPRO added.

The police are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station. Citizens are also advised to take necessary measures to safeguard their businesses and properties.

The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen goods.
