In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, President Tinubu expressed optimism that by early 2025, once the economy is rebased to reflect its evolving sectors, the country will be well on its way to achieving shared prosperity.

“I am encouraged by the latest NBS report, which reveals that our economy grew at a faster rate in the third quarter, surpassing both previous performance and expectations. While this is a positive development, it also highlights the significant work ahead,” the president said. “We will not rest until Nigerians can feel these improvements in their daily lives and experience a higher standard of living. My administration is fully committed to the well-being of our citizens.”

Tinubu further emphasized that the growth in the third-quarter GDP reflects the progress of the economic reforms his administration has initiated, particularly in fiscal management. He also pointed to the upcoming tax reforms as a crucial part of his strategy to reduce the financial burden on small businesses and ensure more equitable distribution of wealth.

“These tax reforms are designed to ease the burden on small businesses while promoting fairness across the country. The new tax regime will address the ‘headquarters effect’—where states hosting company headquarters have disproportionate benefits—and will work towards promoting greater equity for all regions,” the president concluded in his statement.
