The Edo State Police Command has initiated investigations into allegations implicating one of its officers in a kidnapping incident in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area. According to the commissioner, a traditional ruler is also allegedly involved.
The incident led to a protest by community residents. Vigilantes and hunters engaged a kidnapping gang in a shootout, resulting in the death of one suspect, the arrest of another, and the escape of others. The arrested suspect implicated a police officer from Uromi division and locals as accomplices. In response, local youths protested, demanding the arrest of those implicated.
The Police Commissioner assured the public that the case is under discreet investigation, promising that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
