Police In Yobe Capture Notorious Terror Group Leader

The Yobe State Police Command has reported the apprehension of Haruna Mohammed, a 40-year-old leader of a notorious terrorist gang. According to Dungus Abdulkarim, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed was captured by the State Intelligent Department on June 16 in Nangillam village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

Mohammed, identified as a resident of Lantewa Village, Tarmuwa LGA, allegedly specializes in extorting money and valuables from victims through threatening phone calls. The arrest follows extensive police efforts tracing Mohammed’s activities in terrorizing communities across Yobe State and neighboring areas.

In a recent statement, the police disclosed that Mohammed demanded N3 million from a victim in Siminti Village, Lantewa, under threat of harm to him and his family. The operation leading to his arrest involved coordinated intelligence work by SID detectives, resulting in Mohammed’s confession and the identification of other syndicate members, who are currently under police investigation.

The Yobe State Police Command has encouraged communities to promptly report security breaches, emphasizing their commitment to eliminating criminal activities in the region.
