A 24-year-old man identified only as Ebuka has been confirmed dead following a shooting by police officers along Onitsha/Owerri Road in Anambra State. According to Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared details on X, the incident occurred on Wednesday as Ebuka was traveling on the highway. Gwamnishu reported that the involved officers fled the scene to avoid accountability and posted pictures and videos of the incident on social media. He called for immediate action from the Inspector General of Police and local authorities to ensure justice.

The Nigeria Police Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, expressed deep sadness over the incident and assured that the force would intensify efforts to bring the officers to justice. He announced that the Commissioner of Police in Anambra and Imo has been directed to conduct a thorough investigation.

In response to the incident, the Anambra State Police Command has detained the patrol team involved and transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation. The command has urged calm and promised a thorough examination of the case.
