Police have commenced a full-scale investigation into the killing of the Benue State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Risku Mohammed, and another individual, Yakubu Isa, who were reportedly attacked and killed by unidentified gunmen.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to reports, the victims were ambushed near Ahimeni in the Okodu area of Benue State while returning from a peace meeting held in Otukpo. The incident has heightened concerns over security in the state, where efforts have been ongoing to promote peace among communities.

Reacting to the development, the Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, condemned the killings, describing them as senseless criminal acts capable of threatening the peace and security gains being recorded across the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday through the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, the police commissioner disclosed that tactical teams and intelligence operatives had been deployed to track down those responsible for the attack.

He assured residents that the command had launched a comprehensive investigation and would exhaust every available resource to ensure the perpetrators were identified, arrested, and prosecuted.

The police commissioner also extended condolences to the families of the deceased and everyone affected by the incident. He appealed to members of the public to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and refrain from spreading unverified information capable of escalating tensions.

Nwadiogbu further urged anyone with credible information that could aid the investigation to report promptly to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency lines.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state, pledging continued collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure those behind the killings are brought to justice.
