He highlighted, “According to the provisions of our law, paying ransom is deemed criminal in Nigeria. However, a significant challenge arises when families of abducted individuals fail to involve security operatives. They often succumb to fear induced by kidnappers’ psychological tactics, urging them not to disclose information to security agents or the police under threat of harm to their relatives.”

Adejobi elaborated on the intricate nature of kidnapping, stating, “We must comprehend the complexities associated with kidnapping. Kidnappers approach it as a lucrative business, engaging in abductions, negotiation, and monetary demands. Regrettably, we have reached a juncture where victims are kidnapped, ransom is paid, yet they are tragically killed.”

This statement underscores the gravity of the situation and emphasizes the urgent need for collaborative efforts between the public and law enforcement agencies to combat this criminal activity effectively.
