The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bathelomew Onyeka, unveiled the individuals accused of being involved in the murder of the judge.

According to Onyeka, a culpable homicide case regarding the late Justice Igbetar (rtd) was reported to the command on August 24, 2023.

Immediately after the report was filed, the deceased’s nephew, Aondohemba Joseph, was taken into custody. A more comprehensive and advanced investigation commenced when the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) and subsequently handed over to the Operation Zenda investigative team.

Onyeka explained, “The suspect, who eventually confessed to having masterminded and recruited others to assist him in the murder of his aunt, led a team of detectives to Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area of the state, where the following suspects were apprehended: Igbazenda Gbidye, 63 years old, and Dzungwenen Ukor, 40 years old.”

“These suspects admitted that Aondohemba Joseph had informed them that his father had passed away and left significant property in the custody of his aunt (the deceased). Allegedly, she had refused to transfer the said property to him. They agreed to assist him in eliminating her to gain access to his property,” Onyeka added.
