Wike also lauded the appointment of Kenneth Kobani, another Rivers son, as a non-executive member of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Abe, who served two terms representing Rivers South East in the Senate, is a former NNPC board member and currently chairs the National Agency of the Great Green Wall. Kobani previously served as Minister of State for Trade under the Goodluck Jonathan administration and as Secretary to the Rivers State Government under Wike.
Speaking during a thank-you visit to Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area in Rivers State, Wike expressed gratitude to Tinubu, describing the nominations as a demonstration of the President’s commitment to and support for the people of Rivers.
According to Wike, the level of recognition Rivers has received under Tinubu’s administration is unprecedented since the state’s creation.
“Just as we arrive, we have two nominations for appointment by Tinubu — Abe and Kobani. This shows that Mr. President keeps his promises and honors his agreements. We are standing by the truth, and the truth will set us free,” Wike said.
The FCT Minister also urged Rivers residents to continue supporting President Tinubu, particularly in his 2027 reelection bid.
