Zamfara PDP Condemns Matawalle for Supporting Suspension of Fubara, Calls His Actions Hypocritical....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State.

In a statement issued by its chairman, Jibo Jamilu, on Wednesday, the PDP described the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as illegal. The party expressed little surprise that Matawalle supported the suspension, citing his controversial record during his tenure as governor of Zamfara.

The PDP accused Matawalle of undermining democratic processes while in office, including the unlawful removal of democratically elected local government chairmen and the demolition of public buildings.

The statement read: “Bello Matawalle’s endorsement of the illegal suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara is hardly unexpected, given his own history of undermining democratic values and human rights during his time as Zamfara governor.

“His criticisms of Fubara for demolishing public buildings and flouting the rule of law are deeply hypocritical. Matawalle himself dismissed democratically elected local government chairmen, recklessly demolished public properties such as Gusau Hotel and Farida Hospital, and governed the state in an autocratic manner, without holding Executive Council meetings throughout his tenure.

“He also unlawfully removed his deputy for not defecting with him to the All Progressives Congress (APC), actions that demonstrate his complete disregard for the very democratic principles he now pretends to uphold.”

The statement concluded: “The removal of elected officials under the guise of emergency rule is unconstitutional and unacceptable. With his own track record of similar violations, Matawalle should be the last person to pass judgment on others.”
