In a statement on Sunday, Olayinka criticized Fubara for seeking a meeting with the lawmakers instead of directly addressing the issue of their unpaid salaries and allowances, which have been withheld for months.
Governor Fubara, through a letter signed by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Tammy Danagogo, invited the Amaewhule-led Assembly for a meeting on Monday, March 10, 2025, to discuss various issues, including the payment of their entitlements.
Reacting to this, Olayinka dismissed the proposed meeting, insisting that Fubara has no authority to summon the lawmakers. He argued that the Governor has already lost any right to negotiation and should simply release the funds.
“Fubara has no reason to hold any meeting with the House of Assembly members over salaries and allowances he deliberately withheld.
“He should just transfer the money to the appropriate body for payment.
“When you lose a battle, you also lose the right to dictate terms to your conqueror.
“You fought someone, denied them their entitlements for over a year, but they defeated you in court, which ruled that you must pay.
“Now, you’re asking them to come to your house for discussions? Issorite,” Olayinka wrote in a series of posts on his account.
