Political Earthquake In Abia! Ikpeazu’s Deputy Quits PDP After Secret Parley With Alex Otti

Former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ude Oko Chukwu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), just days after visiting the current governor, Dr. Alex Otti.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

During the visit, Oko Chukwu praised Governor Otti’s visionary leadership and transformative achievements, even declaring that Otti had already earned a second term in 2027.

According to The Nation, his glowing remarks sparked discontent among PDP members in Abia, leading to his removal from all state party stakeholders’ groups. Several party loyalists claimed they had observed his declining participation in party activities, particularly in Abia North and Ohafia, interpreting it as a sign of waning interest in PDP affairs.

Some members further alleged that Oko Chukwu’s move might be a precursor to joining the Labour Party (LP), especially after reported talks with key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in and outside the state failed to materialize.

In a resignation letter dated August 5, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of Ndi Elu Ward, Nkporo, Ohafia LGA, the former Abia Assembly Speaker cited “personal reasons” for his departure, describing it as the best decision for him at this point.

“I am most grateful for the opportunities the party gave me to serve at various levels and for the experience and knowledge I gained during my membership,” he wrote, while expressing appreciation for the PDP’s past support and wishing the party success in the future.
