Lawan, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District, reaffirmed his strong commitment to the APC, a party he has been part of since its inception. In a statement released on Sunday by his Media Adviser, Ezrel Tabiowo, the former Senate President rejected the misleading reports and posters linking him to the SDP, insisting that his loyalty to the ruling party remains steadfast.

The statement from Lawan’s office addressed the circulation of misleading reports, which implied he was preparing to defect to the SDP. It firmly rejected these claims, emphasizing that Lawan remains a loyal member of the APC, a party he has supported and contributed to since its formation.

The statement also highlighted Lawan’s long political history, noting that throughout his 25-year career, he has never defected from any political party. It was mentioned that Lawan’s political journey began in 1999 when he was elected to the House of Representatives and later transitioned to the Senate in 2007 under the platform of the All People’s Party (APP), which later merged with other minority parties to form the APC in 2013.

Furthermore, Lawan reaffirmed his support for the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, commending their progressive and transformational leadership.

He expressed continued belief in the APC’s vision, working alongside other leaders to strengthen the party and advance its agenda for the country’s progress, while also supporting the reforms and policies of the Tinubu administration.
