In a viral video posted on Tuesday morning, the lawmaker was seen confronting immigration officers at the airport after they allegedly seized her passport.
Describing the incident as an unlawful restriction of movement and a violation of her fundamental rights, Senator Natasha expressed outrage over what she called continuous harassment.
“Hello, fellow Nigerians. I’m Senator Natasha. Having completed my second year in office, I decided to take a week off. I’m at the airport, and once again, my passport has been withheld,” she said in the video.
“This isn’t the first time this has happened. I was stopped previously from travelling even though I have committed no crime, nor is there any court order against me. The officer in charge told me that the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, directed them to withhold my passport and prevent me from leaving because, according to him, each time I travel abroad, I ‘spoil the image of the country’ by speaking to the international media,” she alleged.
The senator called on relevant authorities to intervene, saying the continued harassment and intimidation were unacceptable and an affront to her constitutional rights.
