A U.S. congressman representing West Virginia’s Second District, Rep. Riley M. Moore, has responded to remarks made by former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding the alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kwankwaso had earlier denied claims of a “Christian genocide” while reacting to President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) and his warning of possible U.S. military intervention.

According to the former governor, Nigeria’s security challenges are driven by lawlessness rather than religion or ethnicity.

“Nigeria remains a sovereign nation dealing with security threats caused by criminals, not religion or ethnicity. The insecurity we face does not distinguish along religious, ethnic, or political lines,” he said.

Kwankwaso also cautioned that inflammatory foreign statements could worsen divisions and undermine efforts to maintain peace, urging the international community to better understand Nigeria’s complex security dynamics.

However, in a sharp rebuttal shared on his official (formerly Twitter) handle, Rep. Moore accused Kwankwaso of hypocrisy and complicity in the persecution of Christians.

The U.S. lawmaker alleged that Kwankwaso, during his tenure as Kano governor, signed the Sharia law that made blasphemy punishable by death.

“Governor, do you care to comment on your own complicity in the death of Christians? You instituted Sharia law. You signed the law that makes so-called blasphemy punishable by death,” Moore wrote.
