Political Shockwave: APC Pleads With South-South Governor After Offering Automatic Ticket

This announcement was made on Monday by the APC State Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, who urged other party members aspiring for political positions to start their consultations. He clarified that, apart from the governor and his deputy, no other individual had been granted an automatic ticket by the party.

Eba advised other aspirants to return to their constituencies and seek support ahead of the elections. He stated, “The State Working Committee and the State Executive Committee of APC met today and resolved that Governor Otu will be the party’s sole candidate in 2027. Nobody changes a winning team. The governor and his deputy will fly the party’s flag in 2027.”

The APC chairman further stated that even if Governor Otu were to hesitate, the party would still present a single ticket bearing his name, just as it did in 2022. He urged the governor to heed the wishes of party members and accept the nomination.

Eba also commended the deputy governor, currently acting as governor, for backing President Bola Tinubu’s actions in Rivers State. He addressed misinformation, emphasizing that the acting governor had clarified that South-South governors had not consulted him before opposing Tinubu’s decision. Eba praised the President for restoring peace in Rivers and averting a political crisis.
