Political Tension In Ibadan As Sharafadeen Alli Calls For Probe Into Alleged Attacks

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has called on security agencies to investigate alleged attacks on his wife and two other party candidates in Ibadan.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Alli made the call following allegations that hoodlums attacked his wife, Mrs Tawakalitu Alli, the party’s Oyo South senatorial candidate, Remi Oseni, and its House of Representatives candidate for Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Folake Olunloyo-Oshinlowo.

The allegations were contained in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by Bisi Oladele, director of Alli’s campaign organisation.

According to the statement, Alli’s wife was allegedly attacked on Wednesday during a programme at Ibikunle Palace in Ibadan. The APC candidate further claimed that Oseni and Olunloyo-Oshinlowo were attacked at separate locations in the city on the same day.

Reacting to the reported incidents, Alli condemned what he described as unwarranted and barbaric acts, urging the Oyo State Government and relevant security agencies to take immediate steps to protect residents and prevent further political violence.

He also called for a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged attacks and ensure that anyone found responsible is prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Alli stressed that Governor Seyi Makinde, as the state’s chief security officer, had a responsibility to protect all residents regardless of their political affiliations.

He urged security agencies to identify and bring the alleged perpetrators to justice, noting that appropriate action would help provide justice for the victims and discourage similar incidents in the state.

The allegations have raised concerns over political safety in Ibadan, with Alli calling for measures to prevent further incidents as political activities continue in Oyo State. However, the claims remain allegations, and the circumstances surrounding the reported attacks would need to be established through an investigation.
