Positive News For INEC Staff: 5,196 Individuals Receive Promotions

According to Tadese, the promotions were the result of the 2023 promotion examination and evaluation conducted by the commission, reflecting its commitment to the well-being and progress of its workforce.
Breaking down the numbers, Tadese stated that 55 deputy directors on Grade Level 16 were elevated to the position of Director on Grade Level 17. Additionally, 54 assistant directors on Grade Level 15 were promoted to the deputy director cadre on Grade Level 16. The commission also promoted 338 officers on Grade Level 14 to Assistant Directors on Grade Level 15, with the majority of promotions affecting 4,749 officers between Grade Levels 7 and 13.
Simultaneously, the announcement revealed that four directors of the commission have been instructed to proceed on terminal leave. This decision, communicated by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, was in compliance with a directive from the Federal Government, as stated in a circular issued on July 27, 2023. The circular mandated the retirement of all directors with 8 years or more of service in the public sector.
Olumekun clarified that two of the directors going on terminal leave had served as heads of departments at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja, while the other two were deployed as Administrative Secretaries in state offices. Notably, Clinical Officers in the medical cadre were exempt from the Federal Government Retirement Policy, as clarified in Circular MH 7205/T31 dated Sept. 7.
