He, however, assured that he would fully support whichever aspirant wins the party’s ticket through a transparent and credible primary.
Atiku emphasized that his personal victory or loss in the race for the ticket would not matter, stressing that the collective interest of the party comes first.
The PDP stalwart made these remarks on Saturday while addressing party members during a welcome ceremony in Lagos State, organized for new defectors joining the ADC.
The newcomers were formally received into the coalition party by ADC National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; Senator Kolawole Ogunwale; and Lagos State Chairman, George Ashiru.
Represented at the event by Prof. Ola Olateju, Atiku highlighted that the ADC remains committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants.
On the issue of who would fly the party’s flag in 2027, he said:
“It is not something anyone can predetermine. Whoever emerges from a free and fair contest, we will all rally behind.”
He further assured members that no candidate would be imposed on the party.
“We are not imposing anyone on the people,” he maintained.
Atiku concluded that whoever clinches the ADC ticket would stand as a true representative of Nigerians at the polls.
